Hi all,

Recently purchased some plants and I am happy with health and ID of everything except this plant.

I find myself questioning it's suitability immersed, but at the same time it appears to have grown immersed as it has aerial roots and some of the leaves had hair algea (though I left those out or snipped the ones I could see).

The plants listed for the purchase were as below, but unless I'm going mad it's not any of these!
Rotala HRA
Ludwigia Pink
Aromatica Mini
Rotala Green
Tonina Giant
Ludwigia Marilia

Many thanks
Mat

Yes definitely Potamogeton gayi it's not really available in the UK online probably for the reason you stated in the linked discussion.

I like how it looks as it balances my tank, all in quite happy and will try to propagate it outside too assuming it does well.

It will do perfectly outdoors and even doesn't mind frost, I have it growing in the garden for many years now.
Put it in a sunny spot and it'll turn deep dark brown | red and flower like this.
That flower will be your definitive ID... But it most likely is, yet never seen a Potamogeton gayi look-alike in the aquarium trade.

Yep fully intend to propgate in my tubs too.

Hate it at the moment though, garden gets little light at this time of year but I'm going to attend to them this weekend so they're in good condition to come back to life next year - the smaller ones are fairly well protected from the elements e.g. snow / wind with intentional overgrowth and large tree next door above it all, larger tub also protected but gets less / no light at the moment.

Main tank now filling out finally and smaller one in shed plodding along too.
