Red Tiger Lotus propagation

I have a red tiger lotus in my tank. It is doing really well and has 7 lillypads. Does anyone know how it propagates? I know it grows from a bulb but do you have to dig it up and cut the bulb? Any help would be appreciated

that's weird, mine has propagated by little bulbs forming from runners off the main bulb.

Very interesting read thanks for that! Looks like i need to wait for some flowers then. I will keep an eye out for little bulbs too. The article implies the lillypads are not desirable, i love them.
