Hello, I have nh4so4 and kno3, I am waiting for your help for the seachem nitrogen clone recipe.
I have a 500ml bottle for a 50 liter tank.
I don't know how to use the IFC calculator to calculate 1 ml as 1 ppm.

I went to Seachem web and it does not specify how much urea and how much potassium nitrate it contains, only "total nitrogen 1.5 %".
By the way, a nice example of Seachem newspeak: "However, no free ammonia is released because the ammonium in Flourish Nitrogen™ is complexed and unavailable until utilized by the plants." That's misguiding. Firstly, urea is not a complex salt, secondly, the enzyme urease is not restricted to plants, in fact it's omnipresent. Therefore, free ammonium/ammonia may occur easily and probably actually does.

Edit: Now I see it can be calculated from the content of soluble potash K2O 2 %.

Seachem flourish Nitrogen per 1ml in a 50L tank.

So 0.33K via KNO3.

Leaves a shortfall of N = 0.18 per 1ml.
To get this from Urea.

500ml of water add 21.6g of KNO3 and 9.65g of Urea should give you a Seachem nitrogen clone. I think 🤔

My calcs led to similar results: 42.9 g KNO3 plus 19.4 g urea per liter. Urea can be replaced by 42.7 g (NH4)2SO4. I think. 🤔

Yes, you are both right, you just need the relative percentages of nitrogen in either compound. Ammonium sulphate ((NH3)2SO4) is ~ 21% nitrogen (N) and urea (CO(NH2)2) ~ 46%.

So 46 / 21 = 2.19 and 19.4 * 2.19 = 42.5 and I'm guessing the difference is just rounding errors.

It would be fair to say that the ammonium sulphate is <"potentially much more dangerous than the urea">, purely because it is already ammonia (NH3) / ammonium (NH4+) (TAN).

cheers Darrel

Seachem, 50L'lik bir tankta 1 ml başına Azot geliştirir.
View attachment 212474

Yani KNO3 aracılığıyla 0,33K.
View attachment 212473

1 ml'de N = 0,18'lik bir eksiklik bırakır.
Bunu Urea'dan almak için.

500 ml suya 21,6 g KNO3 ve 9,65 g Üre ekleyin, size bir Seachem nitrojen klonu vermelidir. sanırım 🤔
Hi John q bu ürenin 0,12 ppm olması gerekmez mi? 0.12x4.43=0.5, sizin hesaplamanıza göre 0.18x4.43=0.79, kno3 0.53 yani 1 ml 50 litrelik bir tanka 1.32 ppm ekleyecektir, yanılıyorsam düzeltin.

Hi John q shouldn't this urea be 0.12 ppm? 0.12x4.43=0.5, according to your calculation 0.18x4.43=0.79, kno3 0.53 so 1 ml will add 1.32 ppm to a 50 liter tank, correct me if I'm wrong.

Hiya mate, 1ml of flourish nitrogen in a 50L tank will give you the equivalent of 1.32 ppm of N03 or 0.3N, that's what my mix above gives you, 0.12N from potassium nitrate & 0.18N from urea. It's a like for like clone.
If you only want to add 1ppm equivalent of N03 from the recipe above then just add 0.76mls per 50L.

If you want to reach 1ppm of N03 per 1ml dosed then we'd have to re do the calcs, but it wouldn't be an exact flourish nitrogen clone.

Edit: 15.9g Potassium Nitrate & 7.4g Urea in 500ml of water should give you 1ppm No3 & 0.25 K per 1ml dose in a 50L tank, this is equivalent to 0.76ml of seachem nitrogen in a 50L tank.
