Hi people been looking after fishes for a few years now after growing up watching my father's marine tank in the mid eighties!
I'm only interested in cold water fishes mainly fancies.
Had some bad experience with going on holiday for a month and leaving the tank to people who just didnt care or over fed and never changed the water.
So I'm recomissioning a 300L tank but have a 125L currently running .
I seem to have a hit or miss about plants never ran Co2, but getting the balance is difficult as I learned after buying about 10 potted plants never last long and planting the plants gave me a jungle so trying new things to get a balance.
My issues revolve around Nitrates as I have a huge bio load never any Ammonia or Nitrites.
I'm trying to not use a substrate as the goldfish poos are never ending, but at the same time keeping Nitrates down with plants.
As this is a cold water tank it ranges 18-20
My PH is around 8.1
Hope people can help as I've just bought a FX6 and new LED's for the 300l tank.
