Looks promising @daejra
Get some floating/surface plants.....and implement the Tutorial below!
You can always remove them at a later date.

@VarunA
You could try a 3-day blackout covering the wall with a black trash bag....or adding Spagnhum moss into the top part of the wall.
Blackout would be the easiest option first.
Hi Ronoh
Firstly, I would ditch the Co2 it's not needed for this aquarium....all the plants you have will do perfectly well in tap water!
When was the last time you cleaned the filter?
Hi
Cut the Pygmy Chain Sword into single plants or sections of two or three plants and re-plant....long runs make them come out of the substrate easily!
First plant in is this one. Can't remember it's name I'm afraid but Tai said it would look good so I took his word for it and bought 2 pots!

Hi
I wouldn't worry too much...you might get some bacteria die off....which results in a hazy water......if this happens just do a water change!
Plants help with filtration....and are colonised with beneficial bacteria.
Floating stems yes, These will help also!
You could use the Elodea plus other stems on order.
Cut some the stem plants you have already use some of those in the substrate!
Cheers
Not sure could be Hydrogen Sulfide?
That substrate looks very deep in places......I would plant up this area with fast growing stem plants to help get some beneficial bacteria activity into the substrate!
You can remove them later.....when the aquarium is more mature!
I would still use the...
Have a look at the below Tutorial if more Scapers would implement this they would have less headaches and problems!

Cheers hoggie
Hi
I run the Co2 24/7 there is also a Mini Filter with a spray bar near the centre of the aquarium.
The surface area is nearly covered with plants which helps to keep the Co2 level constant.
# 28 day update.
Lighting duration 12 hours.
Ocean Free skimmer removed....and replaced with a cheap SunSun 150 Litre Hour Hob filter!
Ditched the filter media and replaced with filter foam.
No algae or diatoms to report
Rotala's coming along nicely....had a few bits of melt on some...
# 21 Day Update!
No diatoms or algae which I'm pleased about.
This substrate is a tad dusty so I try not to disturb it too much.
A few small Crypt Flamingo suffered some melt...which I removed the affected leaves, quick style.
Rotala Macrandra Pink emersed going nicely into the submerged stage...
Hi
I always tend to think BBA is a consequence of dirty sponges or lack of removing organics!
I never get BBA, maybe because I have a lot of floating plants which collect BBA spores and minuscule particles of dead flotsam and jetsam.
When was the last time you cleaned your filter sponges and...
Cheers Tim
Little bit of melt on the small Flamingo nothing too serious!
I do love the look of emersed Ludwigia Mini Red, shame it goes completely red when transition is completed.
Will remove the skimmer eventually when everything has bedded in and slightly more mature.
TDS @ 120....
Hi Folks
Set-up a little grow on tank with bits and pieces of equipment I had lying around the house.
Inception: 10th March 2023
Tank Size: 30cm x 20cm x 17cm.
Tank volume: 10 Litres.
Substrate: DOOA Tropical River Soil.
Water: RO/Tapwater.....90%/10%.
Hardscape: Lignite 5 Small pieces sourced...
Lighting is the main issue in a low energy new set-up, there is always far too much light duration/intensity at start up!
Co2 would be beneficial but is not necessary for slow growing plants like Anubias and Bucephalandra.
I'm sure you can get this tank back on track implementing the...
Yes, slower growers are fine but they need to be under a canopy of plant cover to stop GSA!
I have a lot of Bucephalandra in this tank...with no GSA.
hoggie
Hi
More plant mass the better, use some of those Ludwigia stems as per Tutorial.
Ludwigia red like higher lighting Ive found....but you want to get the algae under control, before increasing lighting levels!

Thats a very good buy....considering I purchased my first one a few years back for £25.00!
Hi
Great journal....and a good read, thumbs up  for the documentation!
Use some floating plants to help reduce thread algae, you might have to up your Nitrate fertilization as they will suck a fair amount out the water column!
hoggie
Hi Paul
Still up and running, it's a tad bare of plants as I've used some in another scape and sold some!
Probably rejig it soon when I get time!
Cheers
Hi
Hygrophila pinnatifida might not survive without Co2...its one of the more difficult plants to get going in a low energy aquarium!
The Hornwort/Bucephalandra are melting this could indicate that you may have low levels of ammonia.
Hi
Welcome to the UKaps👍
I like the option of these filters as the flow can be reduced very considerably.....from full power to a gentle cascade!
Yes I did add a Dennerele Nano heater but the temperature adjuster got stuck at 22 degrees..... so I replaced it with a
No issues with this heater 👍...
I see.....its a piece of equipment I've never used so can't advise the best method to get a stable bubble rate!
Just an afterthought I run 2 bubbles a second........ 120 a minute on a 35 litre!
A little update.
Bucephalandra Theia Dark.....has been under a canopy of the floating plants for a considerable time, this has resulted in the plant becoming a petite version!
32. Hygrophila pinnatifida added, a few small stems.
24. Cabomba furcata removed did not do much growing in this aquarium.
25. APS Hang on the side filter removed....due to constantly purging of air bubbles!
26. Replaced with a Seachem Tidal 75.....plugged the intake with sponge to slow down the turnover!
27. Heater placed inside the Seachem media...
Yea, not a problem were all here to expand our aquatic plant keeping knowledge In all different water parameters;)
I have tried on a number occasions to grow H P in hard water just doesn't like it eventually for me.....withers away and goes in the compost bin!
Ive got some on order from our...
Hi
I'm sorry to say that the H Pinnatifida and some other plants are destined for the big compost heap in the sky.....some plants really do need Co2 or they are destined to fail and cause a organic mess and that affects water quality!
Using some species of substrate plants as epiphytes is doable...
Hi Crew
Time for a wee update...seeing it's the first week in January!
The aquarium is still ticking over....do remove about 10/15 Litres every few weeks....and top up with tap water!
I add the occasional half teaspoon of Magnesium/Epsom Salt:thumbup:....probably every few weeks.
Potassium and...
Hi Big G
Thank you for the kind reaction to this aquascape!
I think you only get distorted if viewing directly for about half of an inch.....then the closer you get the distortion disappears.
I may be moving to a new location...so the introduction of more livestock has been put on hold...
20. Removed the Azoo light and replaced it with One Flat Nano.
21. Added Rotala sp mixture....colorata/rotundifolia/H'ra.
22. Added ramshorn snails a few months back to help clean up diatoms and general leaf cleaning:thumbup:
23. Added Hygrophila sp difformis and Cabomba furcata to give some...
