Hi oldbloke, isolation tanks are always a great plan before adding fish to an established tank. I wouldn't try to medicate/treat a fish unless I was positive that I had identified the ailment though so best path is to just observe them as they are. Make sure the filter on your isolation tank is fully cycled by using media from your main tank.
Unfortunately, I have previously bought fish from a "cheaper" shop and suffered from either them dying couple of days later or white spot appearing. Pre-treating tank with anti-white spot couple of days before introducing, I got better results.
However with latest aquascaped tank, I bought all my fish from a more expensive shop & better quality (Aquajardin) and all the fish are still going over a year later.
