Low, Medium, High Light

Hi guys,
I know I come up with lots of random question on UKAPS. I am just learning stuff from all the collective wisdom

Here's my next newbie question:
How can I judge without using the PAR method of the difference between Low, medium and high lighting?
Does knowing watts of a tube make any difference? I have read and learnt a lot about lighting from the section of the forum. But I am yet confused..

There is no other way to judge how much light you have in your tank but PAR. Our eyes will not tell you much about this either, what looks low light to one might be high....
You can look for tables on internet (PAR vs distance)

Thanx Martin. The reason I asked is because I have a basic light(superfish compact bulb 9 watts) that came with my nano tank. All thats mentioned on the tube is 9 watts.

It will probably be in the medium light range, but I'm sure there is someone here that also got a nano tank like yours and he/she might know this better.
