Old CO2 fire extinguishers

Hi I'm just wondering what to do with the fire extinguisher I've been using for my Co2 system now that its run out? Can they be refilled or do they need to be disposed of somewhere?

I rang round all the local fire safety companies until I found one that will do an exchange (new for old) on FEs for a tenner. Presumably they send them off to refill. I couldn't find anywhere local to me that would actually refill them on site.

They can be refilled if you can find a local firm to do it for you. However, check the date stamp on the cylinder (they've all got one). If it's older than ten years they will not refill it unless it is retested (pressure test). The price of the restest and the gas makes it not economically viable.
