Weird marks in substrate?!

So I've just taken down my current tank and it has be sitting with the hood on but the cover glass off and I found these marks in the remainder of the substrate

I'm assuming some animal has done this so either I have had some aquatic sort of worm like creature living in my substrate all this time or something has flown in the back of the hood and started making weird paterns in my substrate, either way it is odd.

Could be a worm, but MTS would be my guess as well.

Very unlikely I've had the tank for well over a year and no recent additions and i've never seen any mts. I suppose it could be the small snails with a flat spiral shell.

If there were any snails in the tank, it is definitely a snail track.
