Hi are ferts needed if you are using ADA aquasoil? If they are is the EI start kit from http://www.aquariumplantfood.co.uk/ei-starter-kit.html sufficient?
Haha knew I'd get some stick regarding the wallpaper! the other 3 walls are white. Positioning fail! Think ill acrylic paint the back tomorrow was considering vinyl.
Antipofish, yeah I kept hold of that wood from my last tank. Picked it up from Aquarist Classified for £20. Have another piece...
thanks for the replies. I managed to fill the diffuser up by attaching a small piece of tube and sucking water through it. Can count the bubbles better now.
I dont feel comfortable with just that check valve (its glass by the way) so I've ordered an additional plastic one. I'll use both as...
...but I have a couple of questions!
1. Diffuser / bubble counter
may be a stupid question but will that diffuser slowly fill itself up so I can count the bubbles better? Or do I need to try and get more water in there manually? Any tips?
2. Check Valve
Little concerned with the amount of...
You're getting the drop checker and bubble counter confused.
Bubble counter is a way of controlling the amount of co2 going into your tank.
Drop checker is another device inside your tank that corresponds to co2 levels. Yellow not enough, green just right (30ppm) and Blue too much.
Got the address will be with you Monday/Tuesday. Popped in the stainless needle valve but also found some nice SMC ones at work which is what I'm going to use. Has 10 turns from open to close so should be able to get some fine adjustment on it.
I ordered this today to...
I'm new to all this but I would put the problem down to the cheap regulator. Get a better one with adjustable working pressure.

I cant see how that valve works, it looks like a needle valve to me? Anyway, yeah the push fitting screws into 1/8" bsp. Don't want any cash  just let me know what you want.
I ordered one via work as we have a boc account so it was trade price of about 120 quid. I've seen your thread you got one cheap! I have a 9500 series also which I bought used for £100. Apparently its for more precision "science experiments" is what the rep told me. I'm not sure of the actual...
Hi, I have a BOC 8500 series regulator on order.
The inlet connection is "0.860" Whit BS 341 No. 8" Will this fit a FE?
Secondly, I want to fit a solenoid valve to it also. I have no idea which to get or what I'm buying. Could someone point me to a decent one please? Preferably from RS...
Hi, would this make a suitable substrate to grow most types of plants? I don't mind the idea of cat litter etc but I really wanted a black substrate.
