Yes I do and planted the monte carlo while they where in there. Told they would dig it up but they didn't. Maybe I was just lucky. I planted long strands of monte carlo deep into the fluval stratum which probably helped keep them be more secure.

Should I keep doing daily water changes?

...you have to follow a multistep process to get a coloured compound that you can measure to indicate their level. Because of your tap water results* you may well have those levels of fixed nitrogen, via uncontrolled release from the controlled release fertiliser. You can see plant growth...

    Silly Questions…

    1) ....the amount of water in changing eg. 50% = 60ish litres. Provided conditioner is really needed to begin with. Depends on your tap water. 2) I'd turn off/dim the lights and take the hardscape out first and let the fish in the tank for another day. The following day, I'd lower the water...

Adding CO2 to an established tank

Depends on your end-goal. In two of my planted tanks I inject only a little extra CO2 gas, through a controlled 'high tech' system, whilst all other conditions adhere to 'low energy' modus. This is my end-goal for these two tanks and you can implement the CO2 instantly. I assume the ppm CO2...

    Silly Questions…

I know people say no question is a silly question so here it goes… 1) when adding tap safe conditioner to your tap water the dosing says xx amount per litres of aquarium water. My aquarium is 123l am I measuring the dosing on that amount or the amount of water in changing eg. 50% = 60ish...

Hi all, My name is Anthony, I am based in Harlow Essex. My first foray in to the world of aquariums and fish keeping was the fluval flex 57l and kept a few fish and shrimps in a planted setup. I soon wanted something more and upgraded to the 123l flex. I have rescaped this a number of times...

According to their website the seeds are Bacopa monnieri. They also sell a syphon & recommend weekly water changes. I think even with daily water changes you would struggle to keep any fish alive in that torture chamber. 😢 I've noticed a number of worktop hydroponics set ups designed to have...

Was the nut hand tightened or did you use a tool? Should only be hand tightened. Having said that, I wouldn’t expect a nut to split in half that way, so I’d suspect material defect or that it was damaged in some way.

Depends on which plant seeds you order. The seeds advertised as glosso or monte carlo often turn out to be Hygrophila polysperma. The seeds advertised as Eleocharis have been reported as oat or some land grass. There are other possibilities but yea... don't expect it to turn out well or as...

    Suitable environment for fish?

Ok, this is definitely crap, especially for fish. Complete with super fake 5* reviews. The only potentially intriguing thing about it is the “water weed” grown from seed. Are these just drowned herbs or are they viable aquatic plants? Looks a bit like Glossostigma.

Should I keep doing daily water changes?

Test kits in and of themselves are not the problem, it's generally the person doing the test, or rather their interpretation of the results that brings in wild inaccuracies. On a side note test results don't help grow healthy plants.... that's why we say test kits are no good.
  44. S

Should I keep doing daily water changes?

I actually think they are quite good. The problem is that we often accept the tests as being factual but we’re not trained and don’t have access to lab conditions. We’re just hobbyists comparing two slightly different shades of green in our living room. I think they’re useful as a complimentary...

Slowly. From personal experience I can you that sudden changes in pH, oxygen and co2 levels will kill shrimp (and potentially fish). Have you used co2 in a tank before? I started using it last year and it took a while for me to get it right. There’s a good chance of getting it wrong in the...

Absolutely not. Nor shrimp. Not even the largest container.
