    Length of bulb?

Hi, I am thinking of adding a third T8 to my tank to increase the wattage. However I don't have room in my hood for a T8 that matches the length of the tank. My tank is slightly over 3 foot, and currently I have two T8 36" bulbs in the tank. There is some room in the front of the hood where I...

    Plants no longer growing well...

Hi, I currently have a low light 1.25w per gallon tank, and I am having trouble keeping my plants thriving. At the moment, they are starting to go yellow with brown spots and are getting very spindly with no leaves growing at the bottom of the plant stems. Here is my tank setup: 180L tank Sand...

Seachem Excel - What about algae eaters?

Ok that's great. I don't have that much algae in the tank anyway - but was worried about the algae eaters going without the micro amounts that the eye can't see. So all good. I will get some ordered. Thanks.

Seachem Excel - What about algae eaters?

Hi, thinking about getting some Seachem Excel, to replace my DIY CO2 - and I understand it also kills algae. If so, how will this affect the algae eaters I have in the tank?

Turning CO2 off at night. What about Ph changes?

Thanks again for all the replies. Pressurised CO2 is on the list for some time after Christmas. :) It still is a real big thing for me to get my head around the fact that Ph swings aren't harmful. Keeping a constant Ph is one 'fact' that was pumped into me again and again right from the first...

Turning CO2 off at night. What about Ph changes?

Thanks Ed, that actually makes a lot of sense. There is so much conflicting information out there in Internet-land, that it is very easy to become paranoid about the whole Ph game. Good to know it isn't so much of an issue as it is made out to be... Thanks

Turning CO2 off at night. What about Ph changes?

Ok great, thanks for that. Currently I am adding DIY CO2 via a yeast-mix. So I don't need to worry that the Ph changes from one day to the next? I even have discus in the tank. Non of the fish seem bothered by the Ph changes - but it has been a cause of concern for me. Got me thinking about...

Turning CO2 off at night. What about Ph changes?

I am not too worried about low / high ph - as most fish seem to adapt and cope pretty well. However there is one thing I don't get with the whole CO2 deal. Turn on the CO2 during the day achieve 30ppm and the Ph will certainly drop. Then turn the CO2 off at night then the Ph will rise again...
