    How to remove snails?

Kusuri wormer plus contains Flubendazol and killed all the Malaysian trumpet snails in my tank, even though I wanted to keep them (it does warn that it may kill them but I took a chance as I had to repeat the treatment), do not use with shrimps though. I like Esha products and there was a time...

    extra flow - powerhead ok?

Hello mate, The recommended turnover for flow is 10X tank capacity per hour so you would be looking at a 1250l/hr turnover, your filter is rated to this but you have to allow for a reduction due to the filter media, loss in the length and diameter of pipe work and the manufacturers over optimism...

    Paintball fittings

It doesn't matter that it is not side entry, it will not affect the operation of the reg it just means that you will be reading the gauges on their side so no big deal.

    Paintball fittings

I would mate, in the end it will work out cheaper using 2 or 5Kg extinguishers. I picked up a gauge for £10 (Ebay), a needle valve for 9 Euros (Lunapet) and I can source CO2 Extinguishers for a good price. Whereabouts are you?
  8. M

    Paintball fittings

My mistake, DIN477 is the old BS341. It is the extinguisher itself that conforms to the old BS477
  9. M

    Paintball fittings

Dunno if it helps but a standard british CO2 extinguisher has a thread that conforms to the German DIN477, that's the old British Standard BS477

    Project/Bargain Undertaking!

To seperate the panels is going to take a lot of effort and patience to ensure that they do not get chipped or cracked and to reassemble the tank accurately would probably require a jig which in itself would be a frustrating and time consuming job, I think it looks okay as it is, I would stick...

    DIY Fluidized Sand Bed Filter

Thanks again Carl, I have a couple of screw top, tupperware type cannisters that I bought from Poundland some time ago, I think I will dig these out to assess their suitability and maybe connect it to the output side of my Eheim 2213 cannister filter. This has a rather poor output, around...

    DIY Fluidized Sand Bed Filter

Thanks for this Carl, I am interested in doing this myself, what is the output of the pump you are using? I have an Eheim 1060 with an output of 2200l/hr which I am concerned may be too much.

    Easycarb as a backup

Hi all, Probably an often asked question but I've had no luck with the search, so if my FE supplied CO2 runs out before I can get a replacement would Easycarb be a suitable substitute for a short time and do I just keep the lighting times as normal? Thank you.

Yes mate, at that price you should've

    Lidl Electronic Timers

I had 4 mechanical timers, 3 from B&Q, 1 from Ikea. The B&Q ones have all given up the ghost, the Ikea one is still going but is noisy. You may be able to get mech ones cheaper but a 2 year, no quibble, money back guarantee makes them worth the punt.

    Lidl Electronic Timers

Well I thought I'd take the plunge, first impressions seem really good, plenty of features and programs. I'll see how they stand the test of time but if they don't, then I'll get my money back, can't lose really!

    Aquarium Systems New-Jet pumps?

Am I right in saying that these are Maxi Jet pumps rebranded?
  26. M

    Aquarium Systems New-Jet pumps?

What about using some kind of valve to restrict the flow on the flow or return, after all the flow control used when it is submerged is just a disc that you rotate to open or close the inlet, in effect restricting the flow at the pump?

    Aquarium Systems New-Jet pumps?

I also got the specs from Charterhouse but found this chart on another site: http://www.kubazoo.com/bmz_cache/a/ac95 ... 00x254.jpg Hmm, Interesting point, they don't make that clear in the description.

Does anybody have any experience of these: http://www.swelluk.com/aquarium/pumps-a ... h-300.html I am looking to increase the circulation in my 190l tank; at the moment I have a Eheim classic 2213 with a 2x turnover on this tank however the fitration still seems adequate as I have: Ammonia 0...

    Drop counters from Hong Kong

Ah yes, the handling fee, I'd forgotten about that one. So it is really a gamble, you could get a real bargain or end up paying import duty, VAT and a handling fee on an item that could reach you damaged?! I know to some, it's only a few quid but it is also the time wasted to get back to...

    Drop counters from Hong Kong

Hi all, I am looking to buy a drop checker, the cheapest are on ebay for around £5 inc P&P but they are shipped from Hong Kong. My question is, are there any import taxes or additional charges for importing these which would then bump them up to the prices charged in the U.K shops or does it...
