Fantastic looking tank Mark! With regards to placement, I'd be more worried about someone *cough*me*cough* falling down the stairs head first into it :)

    Hi from Norfolk!

I'd use the tank you have if it's not being used. As for high vs low tech, it depends on what plants you want to grow and how much maintenance you want to be doing. CO2 and higher light will also require fertilizers and more maintenance

    Hi from Norfolk!

Welcome Tom. For tips there are articles, Q&A etc all over the site, plenty to read. For the 45 litre tank... It can vary :) Really depends on what you're after, an ADA with high end lighting, CO2, external filter set-up will be much pricier than a pets at home kit or similar...

Potential new EU legislation - thoughts?

Completely agreed, education rather than legislation, sadly we live in a nanny state :?

Opinions for a new scape please.

You'd think a draughtsman would have thought of that... ^^ The vinyl stuff sticks via static though, I'd imagine that would be easier to put on and remove?

Opinions for a new scape please.

Thanks pariahrob! I'd been looking all over for this stuff with the various names I could think of, but didn't think to search for "frosted". TGM sells it as you pointed out. I'd assumed I'd be able to find it listed somewhere as "translucent film" or similar. Really not sure what affect it...

"Fifty Shades of Green" - (1600 Litre Sanjarami)

Fantastic tank, can't imagine the effort to move it. I worried over redecorating the living room and having to move my 125 litre tank... Great work!

Video from the ADA seminar in Niigata

Ended up mocking up a kind of arch myself with the driftwood I picked up over the weekend for the re-scape, will post pics at some point when I do start a journal.

Open top tank evaporation, how much of an issue?

Hah, definitely not tropical! Warm duvet though :)

Open top tank evaporation, how much of an issue?

On the condensation issue, crack a window open, especially in the bedroom at night. With single glazed or old draughty windows you get natural air ventilating through, but with modern windows double glazed or secondary glazed they need to be fitted with trickle vents. If they are, use those, if...

Where to buy in the South East.

Re: +1 for Living Waters, paid a visit today while being dragged to Ikea round the corner. Really nice little shop, I loved the fish room set up with plants growing over the walls and ceiling, felt like a green house. Really well maintained tanks, good stock of the basics and some more unusual...

    Hi from Maidstone in Kent

Thanks for the warm welcome :) I live on the other side of Maidstone these days, although I did a week's work experience at the TV studios with Ministry of Mayhem (kids TV show) and I worked at the Tesco in Grove Green for a few months too, if I'm honest the kids TV show was a lot more fun...

    Hi from Maidstone in Kent

Hi all, I've lurked for a while and figured it was about time I registered and introduced myself. My name is James, I live in Maidstone, Kent and work as a teacher of sorts in Brompton. I currently have 3 tanks in varying stages of "I want to start over": The first is a 125L Fluval which if I'm...
