It's fine to keep the tank in sun. You could also use mild bleach to clean the tank and then wash it with water adding dechlorinator. This will remove any traces of chlorine in the bleach.

This may not answer your question..... crypts thrive in my low light tank with little or no ferts. I inserted iron tabs in the substrate to get them started a few years ago and the rest they get from the fish waste. They grow so much that I have to remove plants every couple of months.
Cryptocoryne, hygrophila, dwarf Valllisneria, Anubis nana thrive in my 60l tank with just one 15w tube. My substrate is clay, vermiculite covered with sand.
