Anyone know how readily available in the UK these are? Same genus as rainbow shiners but I've only ever seen those for sale once.

How often do you feed your fish?

4 times a day. Overfeeding not a problem it's all plant food.

    Betta with fin rot

From MA in Iver. The dorsal looks a hundred times better, plus the colour has come back. This tail has just thrown me! He's still feeding well, active and building bubble nests. I guess I'll just keep up with the regime and keep an eye on him.

    Betta with fin rot

Well, I think I have. Dodgy water in a batch of daphnia. No recent Ph rises in tap water, temp has remained the same, filters cleaned, parameters all good, nitrates rarely get over 10ppm. He's been making bubble nests constantly which suggest to me he can't be doing too badly? Gill, The milky...

    Betta with fin rot

So last week I treated my Betta for fin rot, all seemed to be improving, the milky white/red colour has completely gone and his dorsal fin looks much better. But, now there's milky white parts on his tail. Is this a sign of it coming back? Should I dose again, it's been 7 days? Worried in Middlesex

    Desperately seeking Gouramis in Herts

Have you tried MA in Iver? Is that near enough? I was there today and they had a few Gouramis, didn't have a detailed look however but maybe give them a call.

    F1 altum angels

That's what makes them F1, no? If they weren't tank bred from wild caught parents they'd just be "wild caught".

    Your most expensive fish?

Fish will also seem ridiculously cheap after buying dart frogs.

    Otos and Tiger Barbs

Probably better off with some Cardinals or something then. Shame, I really like Tiger Barbs but I'd want some clean up crew aswell.

    Otos and Tiger Barbs

Thankyou. I was thinking a large shoal of barbs would help but I have no experience of otos.

    How awesome are torpedo barbs?

Still love them. Just beautiful in real life. I'm a big barb fan in general.

    How awesome are torpedo barbs?

I thought they looked dull as hell online but saw a huge display tank today at Hillingdon MA. I desperately want some now!

Cardinals with EI + hard water

Homeopathic can work, but purely due to the placebo effect, which should never be underestimated. There is no peer reviewed study demonstrating effectiveness beyond the level you would expect for a placebo. But anyway, going way off topic! I know more about homeopathy than EI

Cardinals with EI + hard water

But EI isn't homeopathy for plants :/ Homeopathy works on the principle that the more diluted something is the more potent it is, plus a few magic shakes. Anything homeopathic isn't dangerous purely because it's diluted to such an extent that it may aswell just be water. I've just looked up...

Cardinals with EI + hard water

Of course, obviously the preferred solution would be soft water fishes in soft water, but if plenty of people aren't having problems, them perhaps the issue needs looking into further to establish what is causing issues for those with soft water fish in hard conditions.

Cardinals with EI + hard water

Homeopathy isn't dangerous because there's nothing in it.

Cardinals with EI + hard water

Anecdotes aren't evidence, although they can give us a good indication of what we should be testing. How would you isolate the different factors to determine it's harder water that causes problems?

Cardinals with EI + hard water

I live in hard water central and never had a problem with cardinals or neons.
