My tank has been snail free for about six months. I have not added any plants or fish and have just been doing weekly water changes under the EI dosing regime. Suddenly, I find a trumpet snail (or something that looks very similar), how could that have got in there?

It wouldn't surprise me if the full-moon was to blame. Somewhere, in the back of my database, I'm sure I've read of this or similar occurancies! That said, I find it hard to believe and comprehend.

My EasyCarbo instructs different doses! As mentioned earlier it's quote: "1ml per 50 litres per day, with a maximum of 2ml per 50 litres per day in aquariums with lot of plants. Higher dosage levels are highly inadvisable" My EC is new (only arrived this week from AE) it does say...

Dosing EC (according to instructions) should be 1ml per 50ltrs or max 2ml per 50ltrs for heavily planted aquraia. So 2 ml per 30ltrs is over the top, you're almost double dosing assuming its a daily dose!! Not saying that's the cause, but food for thought.

Anyone know if ADFs count as inverts and would have an adverse reaction to copper based treatments? I think I've used anti ich treatment before with them present with no probs but can't remember. Just about to try algovec (algae control).

I use a hose water changing system off a mixer tap without problem. I live in a relative new house (<3 years old) with copper piping. What I don't understand is why it would be OK for cold water (off the mains not storage tank) but the hot is a prob? is it the hot water tank that's causing the...
