i ran ehiem 2222 on my 35l worked a dream no need to reduce the output either, even though you could. I also have ran my 2324 on 30l which has in built heater, same output. The beauty being no heater in tank:thumbup:

I have the ehiem and its excellent I use a 2324 which would be ideal for a tank of this size. I used it on my kitchen tank which was 57l. its does about 700lph with built in heater. I have used this for the last 3 years on several tanks and wouldn't consider anything else. Its so easy!

Very little as they are smooth bore aren't they, in my mind the trick is the installation. Make sure the pipes enter straight and leave straight if you know what i mean no crimping etc. I don't think your will notice any change myself. Andy

Hey Paulo The boys at Aquajardin have them installed on a couple of their nano show tanks, I noticed them when i was there. Looks a great bit of kit and i really liked the whole surface skimmer idea. They sell pretty much all the Dennerle kit, well worth a visit one day :thumbup:

juts be wary of the uber cheap ones, i fell into that trap and the glass was really thin and brittle and they snapped! I really rate the Cal-Aqua kit its at a good price point and am using on all my tanks. Check The Green Machine...

Re: Eheim Pro 3 600 - Swishing Noises there is your answer by the sound of it. CO2 building up in the filter and discharging once the "bubble gets to big" I cant imagine that this would cause your flow problems though?

Personally, I have an internal filter which I keep for back up situations. It's one of the fluval u series and it has real Media. Could be worth looking into?

from what i understand you can purchase the heater unit and control as spares, cant you ask them to provide them and fit them yourself. Have you contacted the shop were you bought it from rather than ehiem?

Hi I am using the Calaqua F2's the main difference being that the flow is aimed at approx 45degrees down thus sending the flow/current down, which in my opinion is a good idea. Check my lounge journal for pics. cheers Andy

Hi I ran my Up Atomiser through my spray bar, but about every 15 seconds a huge CO2 bubble would start to build up and make a loud gurgling noise. (very distracting and actually made the fish jump!) Tried to eliminate it, but couldn't. I decided inline CO2 and spray bar wasn't good for me. Andy

Will Following the 10x rule on filters for me is a good starting point. I.e 60l tank 600lph filter. Although in my 60l i use a 750lph external and a Koralia nano 900lph. Which does the job. Moss always gets clogged with debris even with good flow, there are some things that you can do to help...

Yes it fine to put power head above CO2 to blow round your tank. I use a Koralia nano in my 60, excellent bit of kit :thumbup:

Hello :wave: I have run in my 35l Deep Rooted in a previous setup a Koralia Nano, rated at 900lph as you say, plus my eheim 2222 rated at 500lph with no problem at all. Once you plants grow the reduce flow dramatically if they are allowed to reach the surface. The Koralia's are excellent bits...

Or I gently rock mine backwArds and forwards and this soon releases any air bubbles. This happens with all external filters.

I had the same situation and my ehiem external worked fine, just harder to start it/prime it. I suspect that you loose a very small amount of performance, didnt cause me a problem

All externals can suffer with this i Vaseline or similar is v important! :thumbup:

hey guys i ran an eheim 2222 for over a year at the same level as the tank with no operational problems. Just slightly trickier to start. I had it stood directly behind that tank to minimise pipe runs. No problems with gas build up at all etc. :thumbup:

i have run eheim filters on the same level as the tank b4. You just dont get quite as much flow. I ran a 2222 with no problem for many years. Andy

based on my experience with eheim over the years, i would vote for the eheim. For several reasons, No1 being flow and volume with accessories and support being second andy

Only just found this thread, this is very useful indeed when looking at flow in a tank. Wish i had found it a few weeks ago. Although i am going to make some changes to my tank. :thumbup:
