excluding glass pipes of course as there's no size for my filter tubing and I do not want to use reducer.:)
I want to hide the tubing behind some tall plants (e.g. vallisneria and etc). The intake will be just your normal intake but the outlet will be an elbow bend at the end to "shoot" water...
I did ask a similar question in the CO2 forum section. But this thread was created in the filters and filtration because it's mostly about effect of CO2 in the filter and not dissolving CO2 completely :)
from using a reactor?
I got this photo from the "higher" tech tank tutorial. The article says this goes against filter makers recommendation? but how is this different from using a reactor? maybe there's no difference as reactors would have similar effect to canisters?
thank you for the help :)
Hi Paul. I showed the photo as a sample of a basket. The media that is in there is coincidence. As I was saying, if I use a filter bag, the area around the cylinder would not be covered by the zeolite.
isn't it possible to rinse the zeolite (without using a bag) by submerging the basket in a...
not trying to rude as I've never rinsed used media before so I got a dumb question :)
how difficult can it be if I'm rinsing the media which are in the basket without a filter bag?
thanks again
edit: most basket have a cylinder in somewhere for the water from the intake to pass through. with...
Some zeolite are sold without bags (e.g. Fluval 2.6Kg zeolite sold in a plastic bottle).
Is it okay to put the zeolite directly into the basket?
also how big (approximate diameter) zeolite that are sold by Fluval, Aqua One and etc. The local shop was selling them (n bulk and he seems to be...
this is the 2nd basket on my 1200LPH canister. It uses porous noodles from Fluval. Looking at it, it seems half-full. I think it could fit another box (1.1Kg) of the media but it might be almost full.
.
This is the 2nd basket of my 2000LPH canister. As you can see, I'm using plastic pot...
I'm talking about media like noodles, bioballs and sintered glass. Do you really need to replace these? They are not like carbon and other "absorbing" material (various media from seachem and etc) that get spent.
I can see the logic in cleaning them as part of a routine maintaing the canister...
why would you want to cycle though if a media like zeolite can remove ammonia already? It seems to me (this is my 1st tank ever which I haven't setup but I have been reading) the main aim of the cycle is to remove ammonia (and by-product nitrites) out of the system. but without ammonia, there's...
thanks Paul.
But some member don't follow the instruction manual. They have their own way of filling up the canister. 2 canister. 1 canister could be just would. while the other is full of balls/noodles. :)
what if include them as insurance policy? As Dan has said, nutrients can be added without waiting for the cycle to finish.
zeolites expend themselves but I assume zeolite replacement can be part of a routine when maintaining a canister.
I'm not talking specifically about tetratac as they don't sell it here (I'm living outside the UK).
But there are plenty of canister out there where the inlet and outlet are both at the top. assuming this is the case, I assume the water enters the bottom basket first and goes out of top lastly.
like from top to bottom, what's the arrangement? (e.g. top basket = bioballs, middle = noodles and bottom basket = wool)
I am assuming the inlet and outlet are both on top.
maybe the arrangement does not matter?
Thank you
let it go through the nitrogen cycle so it would end up as nitrate (which I believe are good for plants)?
there are various filter media that can remove ammonia with zeolite being the cheapest I believe.
Any thoughts?
Thank you
I was checking an online shop and beyond the "bioballs" and carbon and noodles, they sell zeolite and other local costs filter material. They also have some not so cheap ones from seachem and others.
so what low-cost/not to expensive "special" material have you used in your canister? which one...
Hello. I was looking at a setup that includes a 4ft tank, halide lighting and sump filtration. I do not think the current owner has tested the sump or the powerheads. but it seems powerheads are cheap so I am not that worried.
But what are the things I need to look at in the sump itself? It is...
