Hi all,
Just replaced the fire extinguisher - I noticed the regulator is showing much higher values than when I connected the first extinguisher.... Is that a problem?
Originally it was 900\70 (Pictured below) the new one is 1000\115!
Hi all,
FE ran out a few days ago, just about to change it and noticed the one way valve is full of water.
Do you think this would have affected the solenoid\regulator? I can't tell how far the water travelled.
Thanks.
Hi all,
Does anyone use Co2 with air powered sponge filters?
I have a group of nano (27 l) shrimp tanks I'd like to use Co2 on, however they have sponge filters...
Would the surface agitation make it pointless?
I posted some pics in my journal of the output from my FX5, it's spilt with a Y splitter to the reactor and heater which rejoin before connecting to the outlet.
I hesitated for a week until Ceejay assured me it was meant to be cut, glad I did as flow would have been restricted.
I run mine without media, I get a very lime green drop checker with no discharge. I found the key was controlling flow, by splitting the output from my filter to the reactor and external heater I have full control.
It's "food grade" Co2 so won't contain any nasties unlike some welding gas etc. If it fits leak free then I don't see a problem! If you try one, check it for leaks with some soapy water (assuming it attaches ok)
Here's mine:

I think it's an 'O' ring type. It has a round nut for tightening but also two notches for a spanner.
tightened by hand it's fairly easy to loosen if knocked, I can imagine that wouldn't be a good thing!
I've read conflicting information about how tight the Co2 regulator should be, hand tight or as tight as possible with a spanner?
It's 800psi I guess so needs to be tight but then again the sealing ring could be damaged if too tight.
This is worrying, does anyone else have an AM1000 that's been running for any length of time? Might be worth checking.... I assumed it was Co2 resistant?
Really? I did a quick search and it seemed ok, what's wrong with it? Solenoid?
Hi Bob,
How are you finding the AM1000? I'm hoping it will mean enough Co2 without bubbles in the tank.
I'm guessing the heater will be fine on the inlet on a low stock tank, it shouldnt be difficult to clean every...
Hi Tom,
I just ordered the UP regulator - will this just screw directly onto the FE thread?
I've also ordered a bubble counter to attach: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0562446623
I will be using this on a Fluval 405 with an external heater - although I think one may have to go on...
Hi all,
I'm looking at using a 2kg fire extinguisher for Co2 but a little confused on the available regulators.
I want a solenoid to save gas and as few bubbles within the tank as possible but the rest im not too sure.
These two regulators seem ok - any experience\input on the difference?
CO2...
