I don't think you'll have a problem getting most large swords to grow to around 60cm. There are also some Crypts that will grow near that height, as well as lower ones.

There's some small 'chain swords' that grow to about 30cm. Have you thought about using Crypts?

Look at steve2tanks journal ;) he has a nice looking tank with swords if my memory isn't playing up. I think he used Blyxa and Hairgrass too! There's also a couple of tanks in past PFK issues I think that make good use of swords.

I doubt you'll have any problems getting it to grow that tall - you could probablly even grow it double that size without any issues!

I think I probably worded that wrong. I didnt' really mean plants need to be trimmed - more 'respond well' to it.

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure it'll be fine if you prune it. Plants like to be pruned.

Check out Tom Barr's journal of the massive tank that he aquacaped and maintains. I remember there being a sort of 'moss wall' but with ferns instead.

I've always thought about doing something like that! I would treat it like any other substrate system, except you're just limiting it to the pot rather than the whole tank. I would recommend ADA Aquasoil if the tank isn't already set up, or Oliver Knott's Naturesoil which seems to be getting...

I know E. Quadrostatus (spelt something like that) grows quite small but not sure if it flowers.

There is a tank in the journals forum that has a HC carpet on the left, then on the right there's some rocks then Crypts etc. It looks like the edge of a jungle clearing. I can't be bothered to look for it, but it'll be quite high up. ;)

Tenellus by far. ;) You could always complement it with some L Brasiliensis though.

I think the only one that will stay small enough for you is the Tenellus - the other two will grow quite a lot more larger. You could use all three to begin with and then see what the scape evolves into, depending on what you like best etc.

Start trimming each stem at about an inch, then gradually increase that level each time you trim. From each cut will sprout two stems, eventually causing the bunch to bush.

The main plants I would recommend are Ferns, Anubias and Crypts because they thruve under low light and are easy to keep. Most easy to keep stems like Hygrophila and Rotala will also do alright under that light. There are a lot more plants that would probably be okay under that light too, so...

I think your best bet would be to PM Richard at Aqua Essentials or The Green Machine to see what sort of size the ones they have in at the moment are.

I've always wondered this and I think a few other people have too, but after asking some online shops a few times never been given a definate or precise answer.

I think those Eleocharis species are actually the same, just with slightly different name variations... I'm not totally sure on this though. Parvula (or Parvulus as the case may be) grows to around 7cm, whereas Accicularis grows to around 15cm and Vivipara much much taller.

You could attach it to a smaller piece of wood, then just put that in the dip.

You can just cut the stem. If you start trimming quite low, it will bush out.
