I use cheap and cheerful mechanical timers from Ikea and Tesco's. Heard of issues with electronic timers so avoided them.
£5.99 I can get 3 or 4 for that :)
Years ago you could buy cable tidies which are basically a strip of connectors in a plastic case. Not seen them for years.
I use a 6 way switchable strip attached high up at the back of the cabinet. Not too untidy.
Sorry Gill, they look like junk. :shh: Try trimming a low carpet with those and you'll end up pulling half of it out. I have some like this and the gap between the blades is almost an eighth of an inch. They tend to fold over what your cutting and not cutting.
UKAPS had some here...
The light units are avaiable from http://www.warehouse-aquatics.co.uk/aqu ... g.html?p=2 if you know the length of the tank.
I'm not sure if they sell the flaps too.
I know your concerned with the resale value of the tank, hence opposed to cutting out a notch down to the tank rim.
I would like my 125 rimless but not prepared to take the chance. Good luck.
I did the exact same thing with my 125. The spray coming from the back would put extra bends in so I went over the side with the crook. 5 mins with a junior hacksaw.
This sounds right in theory but you have two appliances drawing double current.
Personally, I would drop in a 3amp. I'm not a qualified electrician but have done enough wiring and stuff in the past.
Read back through this thread there are a number of possibilites.
1. Killer filters.
2. Dodgy light units
3. Packaging that states incorrect capacities.
Could be any one or all 3 of the above.
I do not own any ADA tanks so for me they are nice and don't bust the wallet. Silicone is minimal and glass seems nice. The top edges are flush and smooth unlike some tanks I have seen at higher prices.
I snagged 1 x 20cm and 3 x 30cm. 1 of the 30cm was half price due to a damaged lid. :D
Also to add, without opening the filter you would have no signs on the heater functioning besides water temp. In the event of failure, things could go south before you even realise.
Inline heaters are not that exspensive to justify the risk of damaging a filter as Alastair has already pointed...
Still waiting on solicitors for the move but when I move I have a 19' garage to play with. I will be part converting to a fish house starting next year to embark on my angel fish breeeding projects as well as a few other species. I've started researching around for plain glass tanks for a good...
Any remaining stock is to be returned for repackaging. They should be back on a P@H shelf near you soon. The filters wasn't mentioned to me when I was told this so can't comment on that side of things.
I had 4 30cm's on hold, took 2 but had a bump in the car so couldn't afford the other 2. I...
Just to update what I've heard about availability of these tanks.
P@H should be restocking these soon. Any remaining have been recalled to be repackaged. Apparently, (I haven't checked this myself) the 30cm 27 litre is actually 26 litres. So the same tank, same manufacturer and should be back...
I've been chasing a local P@H tofind these are now discontinued. I managed to snag 4 x 30cm's that were bought from Macclesfield by an area manager.
Good luck on your searches.
Very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
So your using the pump from an internal filter? I have 1 or 2 old internal filters I can sacrifice for this. Will be nice to get some filteration and flow into smaller projects.
