    Tropica & Pets at Home

We've had Tropica in our P@H for years now, I remember going in there 5 years or so ago to find amazing large tropica plants at amazing low prices. Its just a bit hit and miss what plants they have on a week by week basis.

Hi ! newbie with new tank and confused !

As far as filtration goes the rule of thumb seems to be 10 x your water volume, so for you about 1000 litres per hour. I have a 125 Litre tank and use a Eheim Pro 3 thermo filter which outputs just over 1000 lph. When you say Eheim 650 I assume you are talking about the Eheim 650 powerhead?

Advice on foreground plants for low light.

Not that I am unsold on grass like plants, just wondered if there is anything else out there, and it seems there is. Like you said, I can just buy a pot and see how well it gets on in my tank. Those plants you mentioned look good, I wanted something that has a different look to the Crypts.

Advice on foreground plants for low light.

Yes, now you have seen the tank, do you have any more suggestions or do your first two still hold true ? Do you think Hemianthus micranthemoides will work?

Advice on foreground plants for low light.

I'm also not sure if 10 watt is considered low or not in my tank. It seems most of the smaller plants are grass like in appearance, but yes I could give it a go and see like you said. TO put this into context my tank is shown in my journal...

Advice on foreground plants for low light.

Thanks Tim, yes I am using Co2. I was wondering about foreground plants as I have read that most require high light to stay compact, is this right?

Advice on foreground plants for low light.

Hi, I've got a Fluval Roma 125 with a 10w LED. I was wondering if anybody can advice on some small foreground plants that would be suitable. I believe echinodoras tenulls and crypt parva will be okay, but wondered if there are any others. Thanks

Running period for new set up

Paul, One think you have not mentioned is what sort of setup are you going for, a high tech, high maintenance (c02 injection, high light level and high nutrient dosing) or a low tech setup (low light, no C02 injection, lower nutrient levels) Clive, correct me if I am wrong but if you are...

    Rio180 questions ???

Hi, I can answer a couple of your questions for you Question 1 You have 2x45w T5 tubes in there so 90w in total and you have 180litres, so you convert the litres to US gal which is 47.5 gal, so what you have is 1.89wpg (watts per gallon). If you add reflectors this will increase by about 50%...

Removing Limescale from top of the tank

I've also got white water marks on my old tank and want to remove them, I’ve tried using kitchen/bathroom cleaners and lime scale removers (viakal) and a razor blade. This has been partially successful but there is still noticeable white marks on the back of the tank. Any ideas? I've not...
