hi all

I'm after some new bulbs for my rio 125, I would like 28 watt, 590mm T5's but it seems these are only available from juwel and Arcadia. and quite expensive £15.99 is the cheapest I have found.

...so, can I use a higher or lower wattage bulb with the standard juwel t5 ballast? I don't expect to get 30 watts from a 30 watt bulb but would it a. work b. be safe.

is there another solution?

thanks

First off I'm not electrician, but I ran 18w T8 bulbs on a 20w ballast. Arcadia ballasts tend to run a range of watt bulbs, i.e. 25 - 30w for example.

That small a difference is fine. Just don't get a 100W ballast and try and power a 20W tube with it. May not burn out but will not last very long.
