30cm Clearseal tank rim

I want to build a tank similar to this one seen here:

I was wondering if the tank comes without the black rim top and bottom or if it has to be removed somehow?

On clearseal tanks the black rim is just a clip on plastic thing. It just pops right off with no effort at all. Someone told me they were just to protect it during transit, but on the larger tanks I suspect it's to hide the glass braces/condensation tray ledges.

Either way, on my little clearseal they were the first things to go

I bought this exact Clearseal tank and it just came bare, no braces, black plastic, nada .
