Im on the look out for a light unit for my 30cm tank i just got, I would like to have a sit on hanging look luminare, And i dont want a clip on swing free light, Whats the best but cheapest one on the market at the moment.

I think nine watts is going to be a bit to small, as after im done with breeding shrimp atemp, I may try and use the tank as a nano and grow a nice setupo in it. HC Maybe hairgrass, And some stems again.

The one Paulo linked too was the one I was thinking about, but couldn't find. The one you link to Chillie is the same as the last one I linked too I think.

Depends how much light you want etc. 9w would be sufficient to grown most things (but slowly). Just look at Saintly's Purple Rain scape. I believe that's 9w with no CO2 etc etc (though it had CO2 for the first few weeks I think).

its very interesting, I wont be running co2, well at least right now im saying that, Just easy carbo and ferts. Maybe a twin 9w would be good. At least i can have one 9 for a whil;e then turn second nine on when growth gets goin.

Thats the problem, When i see stuff saying japan or any where in the orient, Im always in doubt ofg the quality if the name is not there.

Boyu are a chinese brand which are cheap and cheerful. They're generally good quality for the price. I think I'd be tempted by the boyu 3x8w personally

The one I linked to is £1.50 cheaper, but worth checking out both sellers and go with which ever feels right I believe.

Hi all,
I like the Boyu 3 x 8W unit, the legs are a bit flimsy, but other than that it is well made.

There is also a similar, smaller Boyu 9W unit, but these seem much harder to get hold of (possibly because they aren't bright enough?).
