any one using a drum filter as part of their set up?

not sure how I made it a sticky o_O
It does not look like a sticky from here.

I presume you mean drum as in drum filter for your pond? and what exactly do you mean by drum filter? (There are two types. 1) An old drum that is used as a filter. 2) A filter drum that actually rotates.)

Sorry, I can not help you with that, I have had a look through the forums, and you do seem to be the first to mention it. If you go ahead, perhaps you could take pictures etc? it may help someone in the future.

I'm fairly sure Fred used one on his pond but unfortunately he's no longer with us.

It's a very long thread and there are mention of rotary drum filters but I don't know as to their usefulness or content, for what you are asking. It's a really nice pond to read through though.

Is the topic no longer relevant? I use a drum filter and I can tell you a lot about it.
My time spent with my pond is divided between before and after using the drum filter. It makes a big difference, I can only recommend using a drum filter.

It would be interesting to know who uses which drum filters in their pond?

I had a Filtreau Drum Filter installed about three years back.
Don't regret it one bit, or miss manually cleaning filthy filter media, brushes etc in the middle of winter.:)

They are not totally maintenance free though, as some claim and also do have parts that will inevitably fail at some point.

Is the topic no longer relevant?
Well, the question was asked in 2021, there were 3 of us who contributed at the time, the other two no longer post :( drum filters as you speak of are not that popular in the U.K. (I see you are from the U.S.A.)

I've never heard of Filtreau. Please tell us more about it, if you are interested more specifically, price, support, service and what parts you changed.
I use a drum filter made in Korea from the rau company, I ordered it here: raufilter.com
I have been using a 35m³ drum filter and a biofilter for 3 years, during which time I changed the float switch that turns on the automatic filter once, it was changed under warranty. The filter operates on a timer system and the backup system is a float switch. The stainless steel mesh is like new after all this time, I’m even surprised by this. sometimes I wash the filter inside, that's all I do. Overall I'm pleased with these filters.

I had Filter Draco before it, there were problems, so I changed it.

(The photo shows a filter installed in my pond.)
