CFL for a High Tech!! Will it work?? Please help !!

Hey Friends , im setting up a 2 feet long 15 inch high planted tank , its goin to be kind of high tech since im using a pressurized Co2 system . I am planning to grow the following plants..

Hemianthus micranthemoides
Rotala macrandra
Rotala rotundifolia
Hydrocotyle tripartita
Eleocharis parvula
Staurogyne repens

I always don't seem to get the lighting right , hence would need some serious advice form u experts out there .

Planning to use -

5 x OSRAM DULUX PRO MICRO TWIST CFL's (23 watt,6500K) under a DIY suspended hood.

Hi, yeah these would work fine but over a small tank like that I doubt youd need all 5 of those.
You said 23 watt but each bulb is 7 watt each so 35 watts in total. Youd have to be good with your co2 injection flow fert dosing etc

Thanks for the valuable inputs friends , im thinking of moving a step higher and using T5 Ho's - OSRAM LUMILUX T5 HO - 4 x 24 watts with 6500 K .. I bet this should do the trick .. correct me if im wrong please

Wel it's plenty, i'd start with just two tubes at the start. If all goes well and you can get enough CO2 in you might gradually increase light.

4 x 24w t5ho is far to much you'd get away with one tube unless the tank is 4ft deep.

This is the only one available in india. . All of you are really lucky being in UK & around Europe , the choices of aquariums and accessories are huge and hardly 1% of those goodies are available in India

Hi Bluelife. I haven't tried them but a few members have used them with some success I think. Here's how they looked.

If you need really high light I suppose you could get two at that price!

I have that beamswork unit and its great but for high tech I think you would want 2. Good idea though as you could start with one and then add the second a few weeks in.
