Hi,
Has anyone ever used clay (natural or artistic, for pottery for example) in the aquarium to fix hardscape?

thanks

Some people use Milliput in reef tanks for construction, that's sort of clay like. Do read up on the precautions though if you are using it with livestock in place.

With normal clay you would have to bake it (or however it's called) before putting it in the water. Potting/natural clay will dissolve into water without some thermal treatment.

Beter to use a polymer kit, something like TEC7 fix the hardware before it is flooded. Throw gravel/sand/substrate what ever into the kit before it is cured to mask it. For the rest TEC7 polymer is non toxic, even if it cures submersed.. The only thing is when it comes to wood, wood soaks 360°, so there always will be water soaking into it from the wrong way in and loosen any kind of binding agent, no mater what you use. :)
