Cleaning Inlet Skimmer

I’ve got glass Lilly pipes but a surface skimming inlet which is mostly glass but has a floating section that is plastic.

The glass bends on the skimmer are very difficult to get around with the pipe brush and brushing the plastic is just scratching it and making it opaque.

I have some PBW (left over from an interest in home brewing), essentially a oxiclean type product for cleaning food production equipment.

Should I give it a try on my skimmer??

Thanks

You can rinse it off after.

I soak all glassware and plastic skim head in tesco cheapest white bottle bleach (40p for 2L) mixed roughly 50/50 with water for a bit then clean with brush.

Toothbrush is good for skim bit. It is fragile.

Comes up spotless.

Thanks Siege, think I just need some bravery to go the chemicals route! As you say it will rinse off. T

Don’t leave the plastics soaking in the 5050 bleach/water too long or they’ll whiten
