CO2 bottle fully-open?

Hi folks,

Just wondering if when you use a CO2 bottle, you should open the tap all the way? I haven't done this so far and haven't had any problems with it but the instructions for my gear were pretty vague.

Half a turn (or less) to fully opened, so it wont stuck at that position

If this happens it should be repaired or binned whatever position the valve is in. cylinders should be opened the minimum amount needed so they can be shut quickly in an emergency. Many cylinder valves will let plenty gas through at a quarter turn and any more is not needed. The reason opening them fully stops them leaking is so you can change packings in valve when its under pressure, not to stop a dodgy valve from leaking
