This is my hermit crab crabitat.
Used a 10l tote.
1 block of coir mixed with 2 bags of vermiculite.
Heated with a hydor Pico heater. Works well for this setup.
Led lighting.
Fed on mixed veg, apples, grapes. Hermit pellets. Shrimp sticks. Dusting of spirulina. Also cuttings from the tank and duckweed.
Fresh room temp declorinated water everyday. And a salted soak every other day.
I used gutter guard and cut it into little ramps for them to climb on. And also suction cup attached to the sides so they can climb up and down.
Their hides are made from coconut from asda. That have cleaned out and boiled, so make safe.
At the deepest they have 4 inches of soil tp dig in.
Ordered a load of shells for them. And they have been dragging them around and seeing which they like the best.
I keep a centre lid on most of the time to keep the humidity high for them. And will leave it off for a while during the evening.
They can be quite vocal with their chattering of the argue over something. Or one gets itself stuck somewhere.
Exloring the new shells. They will sit in the opening of a shell for hours tastingbit and moving it around and feeling it all over. Before making a decision on a new shell.
I might get some strawberry crabs as they are in stock at the moment
