Hi all

Just thought I'd share a few pics of the female as she's in beautiful mating colours, the male has been busy clearing all the sand out from the cave for the last 2 weeks, even the female chipped in a bit with it the last 2 days as well, hoping to see something happening soon

Well yesterday was egg day,

Although there are white eggs on the plant pot and then yellowy bigger eggs on the ground, not sure what is what? 😕

I love the fact I moved the mound if sand they made to stop it going back in and the female kept going for my hand 😂

The white eggs are non fertilised unhealthy eggs, the yellow all alongside them are healthy eggs. As for the large yellow balls on the substrate, have you ever used root tabs or osmocote as that’s what that looks like to me.

Don’t put your hands in and let the parents get on with it, if you stress them too much they’ll eat the spawn.

Cheers

Conor

I had a pair of Nanolutus that were very protective of their fry and were fearless to defend against fish several times their size. Their breeding color is as intense as shining gold.

Another historical video of my breeding pair of C. nanoluteus. Notice the amount of BBA covering the rock, specially the ones on the right that had turned pitch black.
I had them before I kept plants and didn't know what to do with BBA. Now that I have plants and 10 times more light, I have no trace of BBA. Thanks for keeping plants that taught myself how to get rid of algae.
