Do I w/c on new scape with old substrate

Hi guys, I have been out of the planted tank scene for a bit. Just getting the bug back for the hobby.
I have had a set up for just under a year but have run it low tech for the last 6 months with only crypts. I have just started to inject co2 again and have had a rescape with several new plants. As I am using old substrate and still using the same mature filter, do I need to do x3 water changes for the 1st couple of weeks as you do with a new set up or stick with x1 a week? I will lower the lighting for a couple of weeks until the plants settle.

I find water changes will help the new plants adjust twice a week should do.
