driftwood branch

Three years ago I found a really unusual bit of tree branch on the beach of a Scottish island.It has stood propped up for this time in the garden in sun rain and snow.After this length of time will it be safe enough to put in my tank?

It should be okay if its completely dry inside...it will float though so you will have to submerge it in water for a period,
till it gets waterlogged and sinks.
