Hi all,
Been a while since I posted for rid of my old tank then started again a year later I had the syndrome.
So I've got a fluval Roma 200,
Approx 9 months old
Fluval 306 external filter with spray bar
Pointing up creating surface aggitation
Very hard water
Lights are the stock 2* t8 @ 30 watt
Lights on for 10hrs per day
Sand substrate with oscomote root tabs
Stock: 5 basmani rainbows, 5 Cory's, 1 bristlenose, 5 danios,5 dwarf rainbows, 3 electric blue rams and 9 emperor tetra.... Maybe a little over stocked but ammonia and nitrite are 0. Nitrate around 100 but my tap water is high in nitrate. I've attached my water hardness report. After a water change the not so reliable strip tests shows 250 nitrate. I haven't done a w/c in 3 weeks due to a broken ankle and I have seen my ph come down since the last w/c on the strip test and nitrate down to around 100. Gh and kh are on another level it goes past the strip tests colour chart being very hard water. ( I know they are not accurate)
Dose tnc complete 5ml every two days.
My echindorus grows and send out new leaves readily but old leaves are dying faster than it grows, browning, yellowing the chlorosis.
My java fern developed brown spots so I've been chucking in some dry potassium sulphate. I'm thinking maybe phosphate could be the problem for the echindorus? But it's a low tech so shouldn't need that much? Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
