    Hi all

I think my Ehiem filter is due for some maintenance. It came with a little packet of grease which I used up last time.

Rather than order a little packet of 'special Eheim grease' which will probably cost something ridiculous for about 3g of it, does any use anything else (dont want to experiment and upset the fish)

A bit of vaseline will do the job fine.

    Silicon lube is also suitable.

I use clear silicon grease from work, no problem.

Just in case you need it http://www.atomicrice.com make replacement o rings for the 2026/2028 primer assembly. My primer was stuck when I bought it 2nd hand and on releasing it, the O ring stretched and didn't fit anymore. I have just ordered 2 (just in case!).
Hope you don't need it though :D

silicon grease will last longer than vasaline and mostlikely is wat that little packet has in it.

    Thanks guys

    thanks misscaretaker for that link!

I have used normal vaseline before and it goes claggy and builds up - I think it's too thick.

Where do you get silicone grease from?
