external filter flow worries

Hello folks i have bought a eheim ecco 130 for my 10 gallon tank.I can turn the flow down with the taps.Does turning the flow down harm the filter.At the moment i dont have any fish in the tank but i want to add fish can you recommend some small fish that would enjoy a fast flowing tank.

No issues for the filter at all.
