Hi guys,

I recently brought the co2 kit above... Now in the kit it has a regulator that you have to manually turn on and off which could cause and issues with running the co2 through out the day as I want to come on an hour or 2 before the lights come on and same goes for when they turn off.

So I'm wondering if anyone knows if you can buy one of the magnetic ones that will fit the co2 canister which then allows me to put on a timer.....

The solenoid, to turn off the CO2 by a timer, goes on the low pressure CO2. Solenoids are generally rated to 10bar not the tank pressure.

Generally will not work with disposable bottle CO2 regulators. In fact they are not really regulators, either a metal sponge the gas diffuses through or a pin hole with very limited regulation, so when you block the output gas flow with a solenoid, the pressure builds up and usually just blows the tubing off.

Read here about 88g kits and how much they cost to run, even on tiddly tanks (90p a day for a 19litre tank). 😱

Phone the numbers on FE's in locals shops, workplace, library etc and tell them what you want.

I get my FE's @ £10 for a 2Kg one. Lasts me 100 odd days on 180l tank.

Some have only a sort time before 10year cylinder test date is up some have expired, fine for fish tank use, not allowed in workplace for fire extinguishing. Some places will sell you cheap FE's with short date left for "staff training" as another angle to push.

Ahhhh ok

my tank is only 60l so that would last me ages 🙂 do you know of anyone selling one??

when you buy one can you refill it or do you have to buy a full FE again?

Generally they are not refilled, so I get full one each time. Some places will refill, look in Yellow pages for gas & pub gas suppliers, they will often refill for about £5-£10.
