Hi,

Ive recently ordered some dry ferts and some TPN.

Although I have been given out a rough idea on what to dose in my 180l tank I am still confused with the teaspoon scale.

I dont have a scale so cant actually work out how many grams I need to put into my tank, but the question I was hoping I can get an answer for is...

how do you work out the amounts by teaspoon? I see many calculations on here with using 1/16th here or 3/16th of this etc.

Can someone please give me an easy indication of what I am looking for please?

Apologies in advance for such a noob question, but I guess if I dont ask I wont know. I dont really want to go and buy an electronic scale but wanted a rough idea on the amount or even if someone can take a pic of how much x amount of sixteenths I am after :)

hi,
firstly don't worry too much about getting it exactly right... just consistent. what you need is some measuring spoons like these... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/6in1-Square-Measu ... 19b7bafa6f

then 1/16 will be half the 1/8 teaspoon... I would think if you were going smaller than a 16th you might want to think about mixing up a stock solution of a months worth. have you had a look at james' great site http://www.theplantedtank.co.uk/EI.htm
he has some great info on EI and mixing solutions, not to mention the Algae guide.

3/16th is pretty close to 1/4 (for EI dosing anyway, IMO)

Thanks for that.

Exactly what I needed. Will go and get one of those spoons :)
