Growing large Pothos

Possibly one of the most common house plants due to its hardiness. This Pothos growing up my office wall is now around 4 metres, (two years old) and I plan to train it towards the window around a home made bamboo triangular ceiling light "holder". A couple of cuttings also grow part submerged in the aquarium after training the roots to be fully submerged. All growing well. The soil planted Pothos are given fish tank water to drink and they love it. Pothos also absorb ammonia direct from water which is an added bonus. I like having this plant inside and outside the aquarium to extend the aquarium impact.

Looks great - I wish I could do something like that.

It’s interesting to me that the greater the height an Epipremnum vine reaches, the larger the leaves become.

So few of them ever get a chance to climb as nature intended. The same applies to some other vines we typically only see with their much smaller juvenile foliage form.

Should any lottery win ever come my way before I’m too old to care, one thing I want to do is grow vines like this one along the banister of a stairs to a second or even third floor (under skylights if possible). Or maybe straight up a pole in a very tall atrium?

They might not reach their very impressive maximum mature size but they should still get to an impressive size compared to the ones we’re used to.

You should see the pothos vine at Fishkeeper in Edinburgh. It literally covers the entire ceiling of the shop. Several meters of the thing. @X3NiTH might know how old it is? I’ll get a photo next time I’m in.

I would love to see that!

Reminds me a bit of my maternal grandmother - she once had her picture in the paper with her enormously long ivy vine.

It was just a Hedera helix but from a small pot on a windowsill it circled the big Victorian era dining room & was working on encircling it again. Thing had to be over 15 metres long.
