Help cutting Pogostemon Helferi

Hi all,

I'm currently working on my first planted tank (see my journal) and I bought some pogo and was advised by somebody to cut the plant lets growing higher up and replant them. The advice was a bit vague on how to do this though. My guess is to cut where I circled in the photo.



Is that right? How would I get this to stay in the substrate?

Am not an expert as havent chopped mine yet! Looks about right to me, though I would guess lower down than that, just above the set of leaves the stalk grew out of.

By the way, from the limited field of view, your tank looks v clean, the plants look grat, clear water and nice pearling ! Must be doing something right....

I would go a little lower, just above the lower set of leaves. Anywhere there is a joint or node can develope side shoots and roots.

In a week or two the node above your circle may start throwing out roots.

Thanks. Does that mean I should wait until it does before I cut it?

Not at all. If the top portion is big enough to plant you can go for it. If the main stem is established it should be fine.
