Help needed with substrate

Hi everyone, been a while since I posted. I am in the middle off get ready to rescpae my tank. The thing is I am having problems with the cat litter, the thing is I can seem to get rid of the smell. I have soaked for 24 hours and then washed it,then its been soaking for 48 hours and it still smells. I have been washing it in cold water, do i need to wash it in warm or hot water any info be great thank you.

i tried tesco cat litter and couldn't get rid of the smell from rinsing and soaking.quite a nice smell though .
i just went with it.
see what others say though.

thank you Neil. I still have it soaking and keep doing a daily wc of 100% but the water keeps clouding up is due to the clay in the cat litter? and the smell is still there did anyone else have problems when cleaning they tesco cat litter ?
