Help with algae and sand

Iv had my lowtech roma 125 tank set up now for nearly 3 week with a fluval u3 running, aquasoil topped with sand iv noticed the last few days i have algae growing of 1 of the plants nearest to the filter and need help how to stop it heres a picture

Also ontop of my sand its turning a browny colour so help and suggestions on this aswell please

Hello,
Filamentous algae always means a CO2 deficiency. In a low tech tank that usually means that you have to much light.

Ok thanks for that i do have the lights on alot about 12 hours a day
