Hi, guys! Uhmmm....first of all, thanks for all help and your experience you share, and secondly -i need some help.
Short story about me. I live in Bracknell, Berks. Got my first fishtank about 2 month ago ( before i had 20 litres)
So i've 160l aquarium from Maidenhead Aquatics. Hood is replaced with DIY one. Now i've 6x30w bulbs in (2x grolux, powerglo and others). Before this - i had poor plant growth, after i have lot's of algae.
So i suppose i need co2 system. I don't want to play with BIO systems - it's quite unpredictable, DIY yeast/sugar of soda/acid - beside. So choice is obvious - CO2 bottle with regulators etc.
I'm not local ( i mean i'm from Latvia, but live and work in UK, that's my new home), so i don't know where to get "bits a pieces" for CO2 system. JBL systems are unacceptable for me - system price is about £200 plus refills for 2kg bottle is £40 and for 500g is £20 in Maidenhead Aquatics - guess it's quite expensive for gas.
To buy regulator, solenoid and rest of things i can buy on ebay - but the biggest problem for me is BOTTLE, and where to refill it. May be someone can help me with this issue, cause plants are dying, and fish tank doesn't looks like i want it.
Cheers for help and Merry Christmas (bit late) and Happy NY!

Hello! You can get the bottle from ebay too (I've just bought one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160695664484? ... 1439.l2649 :) ). As for refilling it I've yet to find out but I've been told to try Calor. Other than this then I guess the lfs?

Have you tried taking out some of your tubes? Trying either 2 or 4 instead of all 6 might help in the short term. Also are you dosing any ferts? Algae is the pits but I'm sure you'll beat it with the help you'll get on here!!

Cheers guys. Buy what about refills? Will i have some questions if i'll refill my FE every 2-3 month? Where i can do FE refills for reasonable price?
Thanks. From 6 bulbs switched on only 2 and this is for 5 hours a day.

Thanks hogan53 for details.
I'm thinking now. I found some information that Co2 FE have internal plastic tube, and cause of it, when you press a trigger, liquid co2 will be released, not a gas (which respectively on the top of liquid). Is it true or not? cause i know liquid co2 can damage regulator.
Another system i was thinking is to use a Paintball 20oz cylinder. What is an average price for these refills? Just heard that's something like 2-4 pounds to refill 20oz cylinder.

P.S. After decreasing light and using only 2 bulbs, i noticed algae started to die. good news.
Sorry for my English, i'm still learning. ^)

Your regulator will control the flow so you will only get gas vapor and not liquid. The tube is to assist fast dumping when used as a fire extinguisher. Nothing to worry about unless you have a faulty reg.

thanks for light speed answer!

Update. Found on ebay this thing. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Aquarium-...plies_Fish&hash=item563d267fb5#ht_5227wt_1163
Some thoughts about the quality of "made in china" regulators and solenoids? Will it fit FE?

Looked at this thing http://www.lunapet.de/co2anlage_glasreaktor_magnetventil_2000g_flasche-p-118.html
It looks like same money if to buy things separately? any ideas? :?: :?

Update

Found this thing
http://www.adamsgas.co.uk/index2.ph...ategory_id=22&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=54
and dealers http://www.adamsgas.co.uk/index.php?option=com_storelocator&view=map&Itemid=80
Stupid question - prices at all dealers would be the same? :?

Hi
The Lunapet seems to be a decent system....only thing is if you chose another make and want to run in-line diffusers like the UP atomiser you will need 1.7 bar and above. My one is adjustable Ive set mine at 2 bar.... and runs okay.
Cheers

UK Co2 Fire extinguishers and UK pub cylinders are a standard "DIN 477" connection. This is what you need to be looking for if using a fire extinguisher.

Uk Homebrew, Paintball and American co2 cylinders are "CGA320" fitting. These have a central pin in the cylinder that needs to be depressed when attaching the reg. A CGA 320 reg will not fit UK co2 cylinders or co2 fire extinguishers.

Almost decided to go for lunapet set with 3.15kg pub co2 bottle. tomorrow need to make a call to co2/bottle dealer.
Cheers spyder for clear answer about standards!
