Hydrocotyle tripartita sp Japan

hi, Viv has mailed me some Hydrocotyle tripartita sp Japan, I wondered can I tie this to some mesh and it wil grow over it? or it will have to be in substrate?
I am making a cave for my catfish out of bogwood and mesh/plastic. I would love it to be covered in this new plant and be unkempt hanging over the entrance slightly.

the rest I want as hc cuba if anyone has any for sale?

It's a weed that will grow anywhere in the right conditions.
