Has anyone used an inline heater? How was your experience, any issues, dead fish, constant temperature? I’m thinking of getting one, bit worried about leaks . Would be good to get my one out of the tank, I think it would look better and make cleaning easier. I imagine it will affect the flow rate.

There have been problems with intank heaters also! I have had one go down and the tank was live at 240volts! Got a tingle when I put my hand in tank;)

This is why I liked the under tank heater I had many years ago. The only thing in the tank was a sealed low voltage thermistor.

I've been using a Hydor external heater for about a year, the only issue I had was when my inlet gauze blocked up when on holiday and temp dropped.
Luckily everything survived.. fish and heater.

I now add an extra external heater when I go on holiday for more than a few days..
