Introducing Play Sand to a Tank

What must be done prior to putting natural play sand into a fish tank?

Must it be disinfected or just washed to remove dust or is just a case of putting it in without doing anything preparatory?

Rinse it well to remove dust, as this can sometimes be tricky to filter out afterwards. Then just chuck it in.

You are adding to an empty tank right ? When you fill with water use a bowl and plate so the water does not disturb the sand too much as well. Argos playsand is fine though
