Hello,

Plant: Hygrophila corymbosa. Leaves are turning transparent with brown dots and then just fell off. However plant and new leaves are growing and all other plants seem to be ok. I was wondering about potassium deficiency but I am not sure.

Aquarium is 1 month old, 110l, light 6h (I have Chihiros A601 series), dosing luqiud CO2 and Easylife Profito.
Ph 6,4

Thanks a lot

What fertiliser do you use? And what substrate have you got and do you use co2?

Cheers lee

Miss read that bit. The fertiliser seems to have everything a plant needs. And the soil you use Is a good one aswel. It's only 1 month old so could be plants settling or could be your lighting. I am not an expert in lighting hopefully some one else here could be better on that subject than me.

Cheers lee

I suspect a co2 deficiency. Melting and leaves falling of is a sure fire indication of too much light for the availability of co2. You don't say what level you have your light set. The're pretty strong lights and with liquid co2 you would want the set pretty low. I have the same lights and can vouch for their strength. Cheers

What you have is not a low tech but a high tech aquarium with you adding liquid CO2.But maybe slower growth than pessurised CO2 so although you have a nutient rich substrate you could increase your liquid ferts, it maybe cheaper to use something like a all in one TNC complete,Nuetro + or The Aquascaper all in one by EA.Not sure what deficiency but dose to slight excess wouldnt harm

If your Hygrophilia corymbosa was recently growing as an emmergent, they are usually are grown that way, it could just be adjusting to being submerged. It should put out new side shoots at each leaf axial. If these grow well then all is well, if not more water changes. [its a cheap way of putting nitrates and phosphates into the tank.] If that works slowly increase macro nutrients. Don't forget iron.

I think it's K deficiency which is common in Hygrophila species. Add only K if possible (K2SO4) and watch carefully for 4 weeks. Remove the old leaves as they won't improve.
