Is this filter too powerful?

Would using a Aqua One Ocellaris Canister Filter on a 70L tank be major overkill.

I ask as I want to use an external filter on my tank, however I've bought so many over the year I would like to avoid having to buy a new one.

However given my tank is over 50% smaller than recommended I am guessing it would be a bad idea.

Depends on the model - they come in a range of flow rates.
